Today we went to Pass Road Elementary, another school in the Gulfport School District! This was a very different experience than yesterday's, but still absolutely amazing. The school environment was different from what we saw previously, not in a bad way or anything, the whole day just had a different vibe to it. We saw kindergarten through fifth grade (as we did yesterday, sixth grade is in the middle school down here) and gave away close to 500 pairs of shoes!
So, let's get started...
We were on the marquee again today and they painted a poster and hung it just inside the main entrance! The principal greeted us with a smile on his face and was very helpful in getting us all set-up!
The gymnasium had beautiful paintings all over the walls of children playing!
So, there is no better way to start a day than with 50-75 kindergarteners! They were so adorable! One of them, his name was Kelly, was a total flirt and would pretend to be shy whenever I would look at him! This made giving him shoes somewhat difficult, but we got through it and then when I went to visit him as he colored, he was so cute and would only look at me through cracks between his fingers as he covered his eyes! Somehow I convinced him to take a picture with me, but only with half of his face ;)
There were three other boys in kindergarten who rocked my socks off... They were adorable and all had to take their own picture with me, it's awesome because these kids love being on camera and having their picture taken!
Branden and Nehemiah and Jacob... They were TOO cool for school!
Brian, you may need to watch out for Jacob... I think there maybe some competition (just kidding!) But Jacob did say that he was going to come to my house...
These boys thought they were pretty awesome while decorating their shoes!
This is Carly, another Shoe Dropper, hanging out with Montrel, a first grader, as he designed his shoes! This is Gabriel and Montrel with new shoes of their very own! Awesome shoes from first grade and then Atravius, from first grade, created "Bling Bling Boy" shoes!
SECOND GRADERS! Esmerelda, Kiki, and Alec!
Many of the kids thought is was super cool to have us sign their shoes, like a yearbook or something... Ana Maria is signing Kiki's shoes before she puts them on!
Cute second grade boys that needed to have their picture taken on the way out... The one on my right pretty much jumped on my and put his arm around my neck so that I would take one with him!
Jamar, in third grade, thought that I was 37 and was amazed to find out that I was the same age as his brother.
After third grade, we had lunch and the school was so great to buy us pizza from a nearby place, which was so incredibly sweet. Then we had fourth and fifth graders all at once! I spent a lot of time with the fifth grade girls and they were awesome!
Pretty sure that these were the "cool group" in school!
Andrew and James were in fourth grade and I had to draw Spiderman and flames... And then my little sister Annie will appreciate this, an alien in a spaceship!
Finally, Blake Mycoskie (the founder of TOMS) also wrote a blog about the first day of the shoe drop... check it out using the link below!
